'They say that the world was built for two'

I've spent the whole of the day revising again, what more could I ask for?
Oh, maybe for a bit more of this:

Apparently this has been out a while, but typical me I've only just come across it...
Please go watch/listen, you won't be dissapointed.

Lana Del Rey's album 'Born To Die' is out on January 30th, I think 2012 is most definatley going to be her year!

Rewind

As it's nearly the end of 2011, I thought I'd do a review of the year/what I've been up to, and what my goals and resolutions are for 2012.

Lets start with some of my favourite moments from 2011...

APRIL

Meeting Louis Tomlinson from One Direction on a beach in Jersey...how convinient is that? Such a lovely person.

JULY

Going out for dinner with these amazing people; my class at school. It sounds so gay but they are truly amazing and you won't know what I'm talking about until you've met them (not everyone could make it that night but they're still loved just as much!).

 AUGUST

Gorey Fete-This is an annual fete at Gorey in Jersey (looks a bit like Balamory if you've never been!), which has live music, lots of food, fair rides, spaghetti eating contest and the yard of ale contest. This is actually the place to be. It may not sound particularly exciting compared to the likes of Jersey Live (coming up, don't worry!), but it's still so much fun whether you go with friends or family. Such a good night.

SEPTEMBER

JERSEY LIVEEEEE was pretty good! This year was my first time going to Jersey's biggest music festival. We had the likes of the Ting Tings (yesss), Plan B, Ed Sheeran plus many more, icluding local bands which aren't as bad as they sound, honestly! There was a really cute part where you could relax where it was quiet, and they had big teepee's and yoga and stuff. DEFINATLEY recommended (and I think next year they're introducing camping!). Also my 16th was one to remember (see below :)), I had an amazing time with such lovely people! <3

 NOVEMBER

Cute gathering at Mairead's in November, pictures say it all.

I know I haven't really been up to much, but that's going to change in 2012, I promise!
Looking back, even just those 5 things make me happy enough, but next year's going to be much more eventful. We've got study leave in May (where we get to finish school a couple of months earlier than everyone else) because we're in year 11 now, so that means prom aswell!

Right, so here are a few goals I hope to complete by 2012...
  • Try surfing
  • Try skateboarding
  • Complete my family tree as far back as I can!
  • Go abroad
And my resoloutions:
  • Do homework on the night I get it
  • Be more positive
  • Volunteer somewhere once a week
  • Find hobbies/things I enjoy (seeing as I can't really name much except photography and blogging)
  • Be more kind towards people!
  • Drink 2 litres of water every day
  • Have my 5 a day :-)

...Letting loose my inner geek.

That's it from me for this year, off to try and finish as much homework as possible (shooting a bit high there).
I hope you've all had a lovely year, and that 2012 will be the best it can be for you!

PS, it's going to be the year of the dragon, which apparently is the creature of myth and legend.
Today they say that the dragon is a symbol signifying success and happiness.
Lets hope it lives up to that!

Haauuul

Today I went shopping with friends to spend a bit of my Christmas money in the sales. There wasn't really much that I liked, probably because I'm such an indecisive shopper, and the choice of shops in Jersey is very...limited...depending on what sort of things you like I guess and whether or not you're bothered about the likelihood that whilst you're in town at least one person will be wearing an item of clothing identical to yours.

Firstly I bought these green jeans from Warehouse for £25. I thought you could mix and match them with different pieces quite a bit, and I've been wanting some for ages!

Next I got this Roxy skiing jacket (I've never been skiing but the chilly(ish) weather was a good enough excuse to buy it) from Freedom surf shop (I think this is just Jersey based!) for £70. It did used to be £145, another good excuse to buy it!

Lastly I got this Garnier 'BB' cream. It's like a tinted mousturiser which promises to 'perfect skin, even tone, boost glow, and blur imperfections'. It's really light to apply and feels really good, like you haven't got any skin products on at all! It also looks pretty good too, and really does hide those imperfections. The 'Blemish Balm' is apparently this break-through skin care product from Asia. It says to apply daily so I'm hoping that if I use it every day I'll start to see the long-term effects. I hope.
It was £9.99 from Boots, but I thought it looked well worth the price!

And that's what I've been up to today! Now for some revision...4 exams in January, get in...ugh.
Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas wherever you are!
All the best for the new year (I'll be sharing my resoloutions in the next week), Robyn xx

PS I'm going to have a try at some 'Bokeh' photography after being inspired by one of Ayla's posts from 'A is for Ayla', so I'll let you know how I get on. :)

Summer, stop tempting me please

Here is a picture from we heart it.com which I posted on my twitter the other day.
Even though it's Christmas, it hasn't been snowing here and it's hardly cold at all (a shameful 11/12 degrees celcius) which doesn't keep me in a Chrismassy mood.
So seeing this picture makes me really want some summer...anyone else?

However I'm sure tomorrow I'll be feeling Chrismassy, as it will be actual Christmas day! As it's Christmas eve today, I'm having the urge to go to town for some last minute shopping purely for the atmosphere.
Then it's the Christmas sales...Topshop here I come.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Heart

Have you ever had it when something or some things happen, and then you get a complete change of heart?

I've decided not to revolve this blog around D of E, in fact to be frank I never want to hear those three words again. Just thought I'd get it out there.
I've realised that although it would be a great achievement etc. etc., it's not something I'd like to do in a fixed amount of time...those experiences should be fun, and done when you feel like it in my opinion.
And as for volunteering, I feel it's not something you should be doing to get an award for; it should be something you're doing because you want the reward of knowing you've helped someone! But I'm not saying you shouldn't be praised, you should do volunteering with the intention of having a good feeling for yourself and knowing you've made someone else feel good, not with the intention of having an award at the end of it (that to me is what D of E is suggesting, it's like a reward scheme made by highly respected people slying enticing young people to be perfect by rewarding them with glory when they're aware that they're only doing it for the praise by others).
...rant over.

Anyway, on with the positivity...I've personally come to the conclusion that it's good for people to do what makes them happy (as long as you're not hurting other people, or yourself, pretty obvious). You don't have to live up to stereotypes, religions, other groups, find what makes you happy and do it!
Recently I've found what I like/would like to do (I did make a list of over 100 things I'd like to achieve in my life too, a bit over ambitious, I know):
-Being with friends, nothing beats it.
-Spending time with family, those moments when everyone gets on and has a good time are priceless.
-Kindness, I love it when people are kind, and random acts of kindness towards people make me smile :)
-Cameras, okay I'm no photographer but taking pictures then looking back on them days, weeks, months, or years (the best) later is the nicest feeling.
-The sea, living on an island is actually the best (sometimes! ;)) you're never more than 15 minutes away from the sea, and not to sound like an OAP but it's so nice to look at, and be in of course! I can't quite understand what it is, but I love it. Also, I'd love to try surfing, I just can't stop thinking about it.
-Snowboarding, I don't know how I can put this one on the list as I've never even been but there's something about it that makes me want to try it so bad.
-Being inspired; not necessarily artisticly inspired, anything that makes me smile or gives me an idea we heart it.com has a lot of lovely pictures, I can gurantee you'll find a handful to like. And when it comes to clothes, lookbook.nu is the best for fashion inspiration, you'll see what I mean when you get on there!
-Jamie Oliver, need I say more? I love everything about him; how he loves people, his happy-go-lucky outlook on life, and the food reflects his personality so well, if that's not weird. Moving on...
-Radio 1 and music in general; it keeps me going. That is all.

I guess you can say that's a more updated inroduction of myself, sorry for anyone who actually read all that out of their own free will, if I bored you completely out of you brain.

I promised to post more, I have a lot to say now.
